The Searcy Leadership Institute, a program of the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce, is now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 class.

The Searcy Leadership Institute is aimed at developing a network of talented leaders for present and future community needs. To meet this vision, the Leadership Institute seeks to:

• Identify and motivate individuals with leadership potential.

• Acquaint them with community needs, challenges, and opportunities.

• Offer a forum of exchange on methods for dealing with community issues.

• Challenge potential leaders to become involved with local issues and the process of decision making.

Each monthly Leadership Institute program covers a different topic in-depth to educate the participants and ensure that they are informed and knowledgeable. Topics include: Challenges of Leadership (ropes course); Health and Human Services; Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (historical overview); education; local and state government; economic development and workforce.

“Effective leaders think about the future and what role they can play in bringing about a positive outcome,” said Buck Layne President of the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce. “SLI challenges emerging and existing leaders in our community to expand their professional network, develop an in-depth understanding of how our community works, and examine the important issues that are impacting Searcy and White County’s future.”

Tuition for the Searcy Leadership Institute (SLI) is $400 for chamber members and $500 for non-chamber members, payable at the time of registration. The class is limited to 24 participants and the deadline for application is August 26.
