Searcy Leadership Institute kicked off last month with program’s largest class at the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce and Camp Wyldewood.

“Each year begins with teambuilding exercises,” Jamie Mobley, Searcy Leadership co-facilitator said. “It is by far my most favorite part of facilitating SLI. Most of the time the participations come in not knowing anyone in the class, and by the end of the first session new friendships have been formed. It is so much fun to watch people learn about each other and form long lasting bonds.”

Searcy Leadership Institute opens doors for local business men and women and community leaders with the desire and ability to shape its future. Through face-to-face meetings with local and state leaders and on-site visits to local institutions, agencies and organizations, participants explore major issues and unique challenges facing the Searcy community.

Searcy Leadership meets the second Tuesday of every month between September and May. Sessions include learning about Searcy’s history, the city, county and state government, a visit to the Capitol, education and service opportunities.

“The Searcy Leadership Institute is a 10-month program that allows participants the opportunity to learn about our community and meet city leadership,” Robbye Atkinson, Searcy Leadership co-facilitator said. “Each session focuses on pillars of leadership. For example, we spend time learning about economic development, education within our county, government, health and human services, a history of our community and opportunities to serve.”
