Once again Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) has proven to be a very successful method to help promote an amazing industry. Thank you!

2016 was another great year for the event, and as of Oct. 27, there were 2,777 events registered on the mfgday.com website. Since Manufacturing Day events can happen any day of the year, IndustryWeek said it is “expanding its coverage of Manufacturing Day 2016 into Manufacturing Month” and will “continue to post stories about what companies and organizations across the country are doing to strengthen manufacturing.” IndustryWeek noted that manufacturing boasts 18.5 million jobs, comprises nearly 12 percent of GDP, and is the ninth largest economy in the world, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Thank you to the hosts who made 2016 another record year for MFG Day. For those that didn’t participate, we hope that you will consider engaging in the future by hosting a group of students, elected officials or having an employee appreciation day.

MFG Day is having an impact on the coming workforce shortage. By all of us engaging in events such as MFG Day, we can make sure that the highly technical and skilled workforce necessary for the future of manufacturing is ready for the job on day one.
