Existing Industries Group Meets Goals

Existing Industries Committee accomplished three big goals in 2017:
1. Create awareness and visibility of the issues facing manufacturers
in meetings with Educators and Administrators.
2. Plant tours that highlight today’s work environment and
3. Learn what the schools are doing to prepare students for entry into
the workforce.
The
Existing Industries agenda is to work with local schools to improve
workforce availability and readiness.They have an aggressive 2018
Program of Work planned and want to identify opportunities to interact
with students and parents to show them a pathway for careers in
Manufacturing and Distribution. The committee met separately with local
school administrators and teachers and provided tours of several of the
local manufacturing facilities. They will now meet with the students at
the Career Fair. The group will then meet with the parents to
demonstrate the reality of good opportunities for career pathways in
Manufacturing, Logistics and Distribution.
