Searcy, AR
04/23/2018 08:00 AM

Monday morning April 23rd Searcy was privileged to be visited by 25 Welcome Center staff from 13 Arkansas Welcome Centers who participated in two familiarization (FAM) tours. This tour allowed the travel consultants to experience attractions first hand, so they can make recommendations to Arkansas’s nearly one million Welcome Center visitors.

The group was given a new Searcy Tourism Guide and informed of our Farmer's Market and the Beats & Eats and Get Down Downtown Festivals among other great local attractions. While in Searcy, they sampled local treats and toured the Linda Byrd Smith Museum of Biblical Archeology and the Gardens on Harding University Campus. In the past they have visited the Black House Museum, Pioneer Village, and other attractions unique to Searcy.

The Arkansas Welcome Center Program is a partnership between the ARdot and Arkansas Parks and Tourism Dept. They are positioned at 13 strategic points of entry to the state. Each year, the Welcome Center staff participates in two familiarization (FAM) tours of the 12 Arkansas Tourism Regions.

A special thanks To the Greers Ferry Lake Little Red River Association for helping to co-ordinate the tour.
