Whole Hog Café started as a hobby with a team of barbecue enthusiasts competing in Championships around the U.S. Eventually, the team would form with Sarg aka Mike Davis, Ron Blasingame, and Stephen Lucchi calling themselves the Southern Gentlemen’s Culinary Society.

They entered many barbecue competitions placing over and over again and refining their recipes all the while. Meanwhile back at home in Little Rock they had gained quite a following for their flavor just selling from a concession trailer. The local appreciation for their barbecue encouraged the team to open their first restaurant in 2000 and call it the Whole Hog Café. Little Rock loved Whole Hog Café and their venture as a restaurant became a great success eventually even having to move to a bigger location.

In 2002, the team again entered the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking contest and this time won First Place in the Whole Hog Division as World Champions. Trophies attesting to the team’s success line the walls of the of the new Searcy restaurant! Sarg says “It’s a hobby that got out of hand.”

Nearly 19 years later Whole Hog Café now has 16 franchise restaurants plus other locations around the U.S. with Searcy being one of the newest restaurants. Sarg explains that the recipes and smoking process are strictly followed by all the restaurants in order to give the meat the best flavor for their customers. He explains that the cooking process that gives his chicken that perfect flavor also colors the white meat as it cooks for hours to create juicy deliciousness.

Dan Adams opened the Searcy Whole Hog Café franchise on July 9, 2018! Thank you and welcome to Searcy Dan!
